At the Swedish Migration Agency, we are working on one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. In total, we are about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

We are looking for detention supervisors for the detention center in Märsta.

A detention unit houses individuals who have received a deportation or expulsion decision and who need to be available for enforcement. A person can also be detained if their right to reside in the country or their identity needs to be investigated. The detention center is a closed unit, and operations are conducted around the clock. The work is based on applicable legislation where legal security, dignity, and safety are important.

What does a detention supervisor do?

The role includes work with care, monitoring, searches, and security. You conduct conversations during, for example, admissions and discharges as well as to inform about decisions. You pay attention to and manage any special needs of the detainees and organize activities for them. Furthermore, you ensure a calm, safe, and secure environment at the detention center by performing security checks and searches. Participation in transport, responsibility for food handling, and some administration are also part of the job. The work can be physically demanding to some extent.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a team and has good collaboration skills, is attentive, and resolves conflicts constructively. You have good self-awareness and can distinguish between the personal and the professional.

As the operations are mobile, you need to be secure and stable even in stressful or pressured situations, maintain a realistic perspective, and focus on the right things. You thrive on variation and can easily adapt and change your perspective and approach in altered circumstances.

In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.

You who are applying have

  • High school education or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way
  • Experience in work requiring good service and professional treatment
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
  • Good knowledge of English

It is an advantage if you have

  • Experience working with people in vulnerable situations
  • Experience in social work, such as care, mental health, addiction, or similar
  • Experience working in a high-security environment
  • Driver's license B

Employment type: Permanent with a probationary period
Working hours: Scheduled working hours day/evening/night, weekend work may also occur
Location: Märsta
Start date: By agreement
We apply individual salary setting within a salary range of approximately 28,500 - 33,000 SEK/month.
